Milan, 13 December 2024 – A new highway section is added today to Romania's high-speed road network. Webuild has completed and delivered the first 15.7 km of section 5 of the Sibiu - Pitești highway, eight months ahead of the contractual deadline, bringing the total number of highways and usable motorways to nearly 1,214 kilometers in Romania.

 Starting today, the section between Bascov and Băiculești road junctions is open to traffic, and next year, after the works on the entire 30.35 km construction site will be completed, traffic will be able to flow on the highway all the way to Curtea de Argeș, covering a distance of 137 km.

The early opening of the highway between Bascov and Băiculești interchanges provides economic development opportunities, and at the regional level, for some localities in Argeș County (Băiculești, Merișani, Budeasa, and Bascov).

At the same time, work continues on sections 2, 3, and 4, aiming to open the entire Sibiu - Pitești highway (122.11 km) for traffic in 2028.

Currently, traffic continues on section 1 of this highway, between Sibiu and Boița, over a distance of 13.17 km.
