Alesd - Hungarian Frontier Railway Line, Lot 4
The Alesd-Frontier Ungaria Railway Line Lot 4 is an essential piece of Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The new line runs through the heart of Eastern Europe, and the investment aims to redesign the existing rail network, with a focus on the section that runs one-third into the urban area of Oradea, a rapidly developing city in the west of the country. When completed, the work will provide greater transport capacity for goods, and more convenient and efficient travel for passengers. Considering a 10% increase in the shift of transportation from road to rail, the environmental impact is estimated at a reduction of more than 100 tons of CO2 per day.
The project involves doubling and modernizing the existing line for a total length of 46 kilometers. The route also includes 5 railway stations, 3 metal bridges with a maximum span of 75 meters, 11 additional bridges with a maximum length of 21 meters.
